The People Behind Big Top Models
The idea to create 3D models for the circus entertainment industry came in 2015 when circus performers Chris Pettersen and Mara Zimmerli (www.MaraChris.com), needed to show a potential client how their props would fit and look inside the space provided by the client. Chris created a 3D-model of the circus tent and of his props and showed it to the client who was very impressed with the results. A contract for a circus tour was signed, and the seeds for a 3D-model company was planted.
Since then Chris continued to develop his modelling skills further, but it was during the COVID-19 pandemic that he really took things to a whole new level and decided to found the company Big Top Models. The last year, circus directors and tent rental companies from all over the world has been contacting Big Top Models with requests like:
“We need to show our government how we intend to guide the audience into our tent by maintaining social distancing and the placement of hand sanitizer stations, can you help us?”
“Our client is planning a big event for next year, we need an easy way to show him how we plan to place 10 of our tents on his field, can we show this with 3D-models?”
“We want to create an amazing light show for next years’ show but we can’t afford to build our tent and install all the lights before all the artists arrive on place, we heard that it’s possible to create the lights for the whole show using a 3D-model, is this true?”
